abstract = "Wind energy is one of the renewable energy sources more widely
disseminated and used. Despite its great potential, Brazil bit
exploits this alternative energy source. To verify the feasibility
of installing wind farms, was applied Destrended Fluctuation
Analysis (DFA) in the time series of intensity, direction and
increment of the wind direction. The advantage of the DFA''s
method is that allows eliminate trends of different orders and
detect trends with polynomial correlations that sometimes mask the
nature of the correlations. The aim of this study was investigate
the existence of a relationship between the spatial location and
the value of DFA for time series of speed and wind direction on
ten wind sites, located in S{\~a}o Paulo, Mato Grosso and
Goi{\'a}s. Correlation analyzes between the values of DFA and
elevation and latitude of the studied stations was also performed.
The results indicated that the series exhibit persistence, both in
direction and speed of winds, which favors the installation of
wind farms in the locations studied. Furthermore, a negative
correlation was detected between the elevation of the station and
the DFA absolute wind direction.",
